The municipal police service includes 5 incumbent agents. It is located within the town hall and has 3 offices, 3 vehicles and 4 mountain bikes.
Its missions: welcoming the public, drawing-up administrative and legal procedures, looking for information for the State services (police, justice). Surveillance of the public way -community policing, Highway Code infractions, presence at the entrance and exit of schools- funeral operations (bracelets, burials, exhumations, placing in the coffin, conservation care) for the incumbent agents. Market location and collection of fees, removal of wrecks and car pound, investigations and reports on request of communal and extra-communal services, delivery of convocations and letters to the town councillors, notification of various acts, surveillance of municipal events, management of lost objects, enforced hospitalisation.

This service manages issues concerning children from birth to 3 years old.
4 collective nurseries:
It is located Rue Edmond-Rostand, Tel: 04 76 25 03 06, open on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons.Thursday morning. With an adult in charge, the child discovers community with other children. The "boîte à jeu" allows exchanges between parents, children and professionals of early childhood. Free of charge, all welcome.

The service manages the Murier leisure centre, a quiet place where children from 3 until their 13th birthday discover nature, play, rest and take part in various cultural and physical activities.
The centre is open on Wednesdays all day or half-day, or for the whole week during the school holidays. From beginning of March, a "summer holidays" guide is proposed, with different formulas such as holidays abroad, in the mountains or in the country (from 3 until the 18th birthday).
The service organises stays in the country during the school year and stays at the seaside during the spring for children from primary schools.

The central kitchen delivers each day 1500 meals to the school restaurants, to the 'foyer logement' Pierre-Sémard [accommodation centre] and directly to the homes of elderly people.
For school restaurants, enrolment takes place at the beginning of the year (end of August, beginning of September) in the Maisons de Quartier Romain-Rolland and Gabriel-Péri, and during the year directly at the service or at the 5 Maisons de Quartier.
It is necessary to make establish the financial index card(form) of calculation / participation of families in the municipal activities, for it it is necessary to supply: the last announcement of the CAF(SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE), the assessment notice of the previous year ( 2006 ), a documentary evidence of place of residence and the family book.

Hygiene: the service manages sanitary issues: noise, food hygiene, housing, rat & mosquito extermination problems... Call the service to make an appointment.
Health: it organises each month vaccination sessions for children over 6 and adults in the Maisons de Quartier Paul-Bert and Romain-Rolland, and at the service. Appointments have to be made at the service.

The missions of the documentation sector are to satisfy and anticipate the requests for information of the municipal services and the municipality.
It also provides all citizens with information concerning the town of Saint-Martin-d'Hères and local governments generally speaking.
The service also provides the 'Journal Officiel' [gazette].
The archive sector ensures the processing of all documents produced by the town of Saint-Martin-d'Hères and that have to be archived: computing and material management of funds, disposal management, valorisation of the archival patrimony funds.
This sector also ensures the search for archives for the municipal services and puts at the disposal of the public the archives it needs, within the regulations.
